Your Spiritual Path Is the Solution

September 13, 2017UncategorizedBy Rick Sheff

What if there is a single, effective solution to every problem? Whether you are experiencing the breakup of a relationship, illness, anxiety, depression, the suffering of someone you love, seeking greater abundance, or a desire to be part of the solution for sustainability, peace and compassion for humankind, there is one solution: your spiritual path.

This is not an intuitively obvious conclusion, so let me explain.

Each of us is on a spiritual path, whether we recognize it or use that language to describe it. I say this for several reasons. First, life presents us with challenges, and the bigger the challenge, the more it raises the deepest questions. I’m referring to questions like:

  • Why has this illness happened to me (or to someone I love)?
  • What happens when we die?
  • What is the purpose of my life?
  • How do I make meaning of suffering, both my own and the suffering of others?
  • How can I move forward when I am in pain, fear or loneliness?

These are spiritual questions that have no easy answers. Organized religions provide some answers. If one of these works for you, great. But for many, they provide at best partial answers. That’s because what I refer to as spirituality is ultimately an individual experience.

Actually, it’s a series of individual experiences that unfold over time. That’s what I mean by a spiritual path, your spiritual path. None of us truly knows where our path is headed. The future remains a mystery, but it is left to each of us to walk our individual path. Nobody else can do it for you.

We get to make choices on our path. That’s the gift and the challenge of having free will. Here’s what I’ve learned so far on my path:

The more we approach our lives as a spiritual path and the more we make choices through a spiritual framework, the more meaning, love and joy we experience along the way.

The benefits of engaging our lives as a spiritual path include:

  • Experiencing ever growing inner peace
  • Finding deeper meaning in how you live your life
  • Accessing greater joy
  • Becoming part of the solution for bringing peace and love to our world.

In the next few blogs, we will address how engaging your life as a spiritual path results in these benefits.
